My old tech page was really stupid and I realized I didn't use a computer for much more beyond simple program development and graphic design.
So instead, I decided to show off some of my tech stuff that I think is neat. Yes I was inspired by Kokoscript's computer page.
I think it is fun to read about other peoples collections, their thoughts and memories!
I bought into the Pinephone hype and yeah it's pretty ass.
Last I checked MMS development is barely existant ("Just use Telegram bro SMS is dead in Europe" shut up you're making me want to commit a war crime!!!!) and the insistence to stick with distros that use heavy resources and have all sorts of undeeded fluff in the kernel is ugly.
Also the staff are kind of overachieving on what they can actually deliver but that's another story.
Regardless, because I hate myself and have terminal technotism I'm determined to at LEAST have it work as a nice PDA setup. In that aspect it's alright, a really fat DS Lite that can shitpost via CLI and also fry eggs on the back.
I warmly wait for the day I can send my mother cat pictures seamlessly.
I really missed having a dedicated music device, so I picked up a busted iPod online and went to town with it!
Inside is a iFlash board, one SD slot. I thought of getting the four slot (imagine the gigglybits) but decided against it since I think it would be insane to carry every single audio file I possess. Nobody sane listens to voice dramas on the bus.
Rockbox is very fancy and thanks to the funky cats in China I can easily repair my device while using FOSS software. The absolute irony of it being an Apple product.
I have a second one (currently guts) I'm planning on turning into an SSD iPod for shits and giggles.
Found this bulky ass fella at the thrift store!
I currently don't have any pictures of it because it's open and it is very rude to take unconsentual images of one while they are nude.
The capacitors on many parts were basically mexican jumping beans and the power supply looked like it could be used for domestic terrorism, so I've taken it upon myself to destroy history and turn it into a "Japanese salaryman decides to join a hackerspace LAN party with his riced out office PC he stole from his job" build.
It'll make sense when it's done.
A long time ago I bought a Raspi to host a chatbot. Then I bought another one to shitpost at higher speeds. And then another, just 'cause it was cheap, I wasn't even using the damn things for chatbots anymore though.
Then God said "what if you made a cluster lol" and then I did.
I call him my little meow meow Catboy and he sits there with his LED USB mini cable doing fuck all.
Are there chatbots for Matrix or something? I want to channel divine power to my Catboy.
I have so many handhelds and consoles I don't really think it's worth writing about them individually.
I dabbled in Wii homebrew once to make my Wii say slurs on a screen and felt accomplished. I play too much DS games on my 3DS somehow defeating the purpose of using a 3DS. I waited 3 months to test rechargable batteries because I was very scared it would blow up my GBA but it ended up fine. My Switch is basically a Pokemon Machine. They're all Pokemon machines, really. It is terrible. I am not a gamer.
Eventually I would like to make one homebrew game, since I find a lot of them really boring outside of technical aspects. I suppose that's the point? But homebrew games can be so much more than just glorified tech demos.
I miss you Wiichan
I actually haven't used this one in a while...I remember being a youth and buying an RFID to USB adapter so I could use an English translation patch.
Then I learned years later they finally brought colored Tamas to English speaking markets and I felt like a gigantic fool.
Turns out you can engage in Tamagotchi piracy by downloading dumped files online, as well being able to create your own "Virtual Deco Pieces" (they're just files) to send over to the Tamagotchi P but I've never tried the latter option myself.
I had once dabbled in the insane thought of using it as a password storage or other sort of secret message holder. The FBI will not know about this.
